I still don’t have my residency card, but I’ve moved into my new home! No more living out of suitcases. Phew!! I’m going to try posting weekly, so that my posts will be able to include more details of my daily efforts to renovate the “chateau” and get my business rolling. When too much time passes, I end up writing summaries about what’s been happening.
Getting the Keys
After my wonderful stay with friends in the Alps, I rented a car and loaded it with everything in my Paris apartment, so that I could take it all with me when I went to Dijon to sign the closing paperwork on my house. I knew that I would get the keys that same day, so when I went back to Chatillon-sur-Seine, I was able to unload and do a little unpacking. I’d succeeded in setting up my electricity and water ahead of closing, but not internet. The little amount of furniture that I’d bought from the sellers was here, but it still felt like camping out in an empty house for a couple of nights. I made a bunch of videos and took lots of pictures! You can follow along here: ChateleineLife
I returned to Paris and then off I went to Seattle for a long-awaited family vacation and another wedding. That was amazing as well, and I wish I’d written a post just for that. So suffice it to say it was full of good food, fun, and memory-making! After that was a beautiful wedding for the daughter of a dear friend. I also connected with people I’d missed in Seattle, so I headed back to Paris with my heart full and prepared to be alone for awhile.
Back in Paris, I wrapped things up at my apartment, turned in my keys, and got on a train… HOME!
