I’ve been living in my new house now for 3 weeks! I’ve had a few milestones –
some more important than others, and a few set-backs.
Milestones

I explored by neighborhood some more. St-Vorles medieval church.

My shipment of personal belongings from the US arrived. 6 months
ago!

My new washing machine was delivered, amongst other orders.

I burned through unpacking and tallied the few damages. Cozy
kitchen!

I bought a car! It’s a manual transmission and had good reviews. Dacia Sandero
Stepway 2018

Got internet installed and then I wired a wifi network.

Met with my personal banker for the 1st time. I walk in town.

Checked out the farmers market and the other boulangerie.

Braved the attic on a rainy day (found 1 obvious leak).

Started doing some exercises at home in my favorite room.

Set-up and installed smart smoke detectors.

Started pulling wallpaper off the walls in the entry.

Picked apples and pears from my trees for the 1st time.

Visited the inside of St-Nicholas medieval church by my house.

Went to the activities forum for my area & met groups to join.

Got an original publication of Victorine de Chastenay’s memoires (Vol 1 &
2)

Hired getting my yard trimmed back for winter.

Started a writing project.
Finished sewing a 1930s top. Discovered this
portrait.
Setbacks
Didn’t get to pick up my car when scheduled. (Got it today though!)
Discovered my 16th c. wall has a weak spot that needs rebuilding.
Discovered cement on the lower 3 feet of the entry walls.
Need to get a sports physical to be able to join the hiking club.
Still no returned calls from architects.
Couldn’t go to the hardware store without a car, so stripping paint off doors and windows hasn’t started yet.
Can’t plug in space heaters until electrician repairs outlets.
And…
I had dinner out with new neighbors, who are British and only here part-time. My French is sufficient that it doesn’t stop me from moving forward and doing the things I want/need to do. I also have started establishing routines that help me stay on-track and avoid ending a week feeling like I never got to important things. It’s helping me not feel overwhelmed by all there is to do. So that pretty much sums up my first three weeks here. Except to say that I’m super happy, challenged, inspired, and getting healthier every day.
